The Neuro-Ophthalmology Department carries out the diagnostic study and the treatment of all those disorders that affect the structures of the nervous system, central or peripheral, responsible for the visual function and the ocular motility.
These structures include, on one side, the optic nerve, the optic tract and the visual cortex; and on the other side, the ocular muscles, the ocular motor nerves and the corrections within the central nervous system.
The disorders are maybe congenital, hereditary diseases, trauma, inflammatory and demyelinating diseases, infections, primary and secondary tumors, intracranial hypertension, vascular, ischemic or hemorrhagic diseases, nutritional, metabolic and toxic disorders and degenerative processes.
