The members of the department are involved in several scientific societies and participate as speakers and attendees on a regular basis in congresses and meetings about the specialty, as well as in research and development matters.
They are currently dealing with explorations and complementary tests related to this specialty, as well as with all types of surgical techniques that have been approved to day as the most effective for the correction of refractive defects.
The ICR was selected by the Generalitat of Catalunya (the Catalan Government) to be a member of the scientific advisory board to define the technical requirements for the authorisation of centres that carry out refractive surgery.
